Alcossebre is ideally located in the province of Castellon, some 90km north of Valencia on this breathtakingly unspoilt coastline of the Costa Azaharor Orange Blossom Coast, as it is more commonly known.

Within this region the jewels in the crown are the neighboring villages of Las Fuentes and Alcossebre, but together just known as the latter. Alcossebre dates back many centuries to when the moors finally left these shores. A few local families that had lived within the areas famous castle of Alcala de Chivert(overlooking Alcossebre) for many years for protection came down to and populate what we today know as Alcossebre.

Steeped in history and culture as Alcossebre is, this area has become a haven for those seeking a slightly more tranquil and quality lifestyle. But don't be fooled; Alcossebre might be relatively unspoilt, but the area offers all the modern conveniences we have come to expect. Unlike many such coastal villages and towns in Spain, Alcossebre is not a holiday hotspot that shuts up in winter until the next season...quite the reverse!

Alcossebre is a truly residential area that is open all year round for its truly cosmopolitan mix of residents, mainly Spanish with Dutch, Scandinavian, Italian, French, German and British.

Alcossebre is ideally situated only 4km from exit 44 on Spain's national motorway the A7, or the coastal road the N340 which runs parallel to the motorway the length of Spain.
It is at exit 44 that the new road will finish from the areas new airport opening in summer 2009 only thirty minuets away.

Alcossebre is in an area protected by law against the intrusion of mass tourism and the development of high-rise apartments and hotels

The area enjoys an average of 310 days of sunshine a year with brilliant blue skies - even eating al fresco in December! The summers are dry with winter's mild, providing a great respite from the aches and pains commonly associated with our own damp weather.

Another reason why Alcossebre is unique - it is surrounded by nature reserves and national parks. The fantastic backdrop at Alcossebre is the Sierra de Irta Mountain range, designated a natural park and with its 14th century templar castle of Alcala watching over Alcossebre and its five sandy beaches, all of which fly the prestigious blue flags, awarded by the European Community for their fine clean sandy beaches and crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean. Alcossebre is particular popular with families for holidays due too the spectacular beaches, and the safe and perfect swimming conditions, even for the young children.

Only a stones throw along the beach from Alcossebre the village of Torrenostra nestles besides the beautiful nature reserve of 'Prat de Cabanas' which stretches along the coast to Oropesa del Mar. This is also designated an area of outstanding beauty, where building is strictly prohibited. The reserve is considered of high ecological value because of its rare and unique fauna. With its wetlands, this serves as a principle stopover for many different species of waterfowl.

Alcossebre offers many fine quality restaurants along its palm-lined streets or promenades which offer a wide variety of cuisines to satisfy the most demanding gourmets. There is an excellent selection of small quality shops, supermarkets, and only a short drive to the largest hypermarkets and shopping malls at Castellon or Benicarlo.

There is a 350 berth modern marina for the boating enthusiasts, and home to a special school for teaching sub-aqua techniques. Apart from all water sports, other sporting facilities and outdoor pursuits include horse riding, tennis, water-park, bowls, go-karting, cycling, fishing, hiking, and not forgetting golf. Alcossebre has two prestigious established 18 hole championship courses only a short drive away, plus another two underway, with the nearest only 3km!

Skiing enthusiasts can indulge their passion at Valdenaries, a well known ski resort only a two hour drive inland from Alcossebre from November-March.
